Ranikhet is one of the most delightful hill stations that India has! If you are looking for the perfect getaway during the summer months, then Ranikhet is one of the best hill stations that you can hope to visit.
Located amongst the hills in Uttarakhand, Ranikhet is a serene cantonment town which deserves special mention when it comes to tourism. There are plenty of resorts in ranikhet and hence you will find accommodation very easily over here. If you want to take a short and sweet trip during the summers, then you can easily head out to Ranikhet for a couple of days.
Here’s a two-day plan that you can carry out when planning your visit to Ranikhet:
Before executing the plan, however, you need to make a list of the places that you want to visit and the things that you want to do when in Ranikhet.
Itinerary for Day 1
Make sure that whatever travel arrangements you make, you reach Ranikhet latest by 10 in the morning. That way you will have a whole day to explore some of the nearby sightseeing places. You can freshen up a little and head out to the most popular tourist destination here- the Chaubatia Gardens. The rows of orchards of various delicious fruits and the beautiful snow-capped mountains on all sides, paints a beautiful picture. After visiting the Chaubatia, you can then make your way to the Bhalu Dam. This is actually an artificial lake. All you have to do is travel 3kms below Chaubatia and you will reach this place. You can actually enjoy a nice lunch by the shores of this lake and then head out for the Jhula Devi Temple. This is also located very near to the Chaubatia and hence travelling will not be a problem. If you want, you can rent a car from the ranikhet hotel where you will be staying. This is an 8th century temple and considered to be very sacred. You can catch the evening offerings here and then make your way back to the hotel.
Itinerary for Day 2
Keep day 2 for travelling to a few villages and hamlets that are located very close to Ranikhet. Make sure that you start your day at 9 and head out first to Majkhali village. It is about 12 km away from Ranikhet and you can hire a jeep or a taxi to travel to this place. On your way back from Majkhali you can visit the Upat Golf course, which is the golf course at the highest altitude in India, to enjoy a picnic lunch. From here you can head out to the Tarikhet village. This is a very beautiful hamlet that should be covered during your visit to Ranikhet. It is about 8kms from the main town area and falls on the way to Ramnagar. If you hire a car for the day (which is strongly advisable), then talk to your local driver and figure out the route map and timing which will enable you to cover all these three spots. Spend a nice and relaxing evening at your hotel.
This plan will help you to cover the most interesting places that there are in Ranikhet in your short and sweet trip to this hill station!
