Hey girlfriend, the summer starts here and it’s time to get your life in order. Yeah, it may be raining outside and blowing like a hurricane, but there’s work to do indoors. Just sit yourself at your laptop or flash up your smart phone, because it’s time to get organised…
Clever with clothes
So did you catch the catwalk shows? Impressed by the movers and shakers in Paris, New York, London and Milan? Take much notice of the couture creatures strutting their stuff?
Is that a blanket ‘no’?
Agreed, it seems far from relevant. Can you picture yourself walking into college wearing any of those outfits? Okay, they look awesome as far as a piece of art or extreme fashion statement goes – but how am I going to rock that look day in day out? I get the point that it’s just a directional thing that the creatives do, in order to steer trends, move the conversation on. I understand all that. But what’s that stuff got to do with the clothes in my wardrobe?
I prefer to find my fashion online, where the choice is unlimited, everything sells at my (low) price point and if it doesn’t fit, it’s the wrong colour or it just doesn’t suit my curves – I can send it right back. For womens online fashion, there are so many brilliant places to hunt down chic bargains, you’d have to be mad to enter a real high street shop. The boring thing about the high street is that it’s so predictable – all the retailers stock the same shades, similar lines and silhouettes and by the end of a day’s shopping, they all blur into one. I want my clothes buying experience to offer excitement, something fresh and new that I know nobody else will be wearing – that’s why womens online fashion will always get my vote.
Weekly food shopping
So what else is easier to get online? How about the groceries? Busy students like me need to squeeze out as much study (and party) time out of every day. Lengthy trawls around the supermarket, trying to work out which special offer I should invest my pennies in, is not my idea of fun. Much better to do online ordering and get your groceries delivered at a convenient time. How cool is that? No waiting around for buses in the rain with heavy shopping bags, no expensive taxis – if you share a flat or house, you can club together with others to keep costs down. Online food shopping was invented for the time and cash poor like us – embrace it and start feeling the benefits immediately.
Invariably, the online option is the cheapest way to go these days. But it’s not only cost we should be influenced by, it’s the range, choice and customer service that’s also key. Because online retailers don’t have that face-to-face contact with customers, they put added effort into providing a positive client experience.
More stuff for less online
So if you want to do a real online Spring clean and start saving on other internet deals, here are some products that are invariably available for less at the click of a mouse…
Glasses and contact lenses. Go and get your eye test performed at a regular opticians, then send off your prescription to an online equivalent. You are under no obligation to buy frames from the place that performs your eye test. Online opticians have great tools that allow you to ‘try on’ frames for suitability. You’ll often find ace BOGOF deals or get a free set of shades thrown in. See more clearly and save money…can it get any better?
Fun is always on the agenda for students and sometimes we want a change of pace from the union bar. Buy tickets for movies, theatre and amusement parks online and slash the costs.
Toiletries such as make-up and pharmaceuticals can be sourced for less online. Razors, non prescription meds and perfume are all sold at discounts compared to high street equivalents.
Other miscellaneous items such as books, magazine subscriptions, holidays, flight tickets, most electronics, phone cases and bulk items such as dog food and loo roll all suck less out of your wallet when bought online. How much more persuasion do you need?
Getting your life in order is easier when you trust your retail needs to the internet. With a bit of organisation you can have your whole life covered, from your wardrobe to what’s in your fridge and everything else in between – leaving you lots more time for chilling and having a good time…
